Importance of Cleaning

Dirty Fuel Facts

It has been stated that 80% of emergency engine failures are fuel related.

Engine and generator manufactures agree that fuel maintenance and testing helps prevent problems and failures.

90% of the contaminates that form in fuel tanks are from organic matter that stems from the breakdown of the fuel. This organic matter or microbial growth is referred to as sludge, or mud and it forms on the bottom of your tanks. Its growth starts with the water in the bottom of your tank.

Water in your tank is the enemy!

Water comes from Condensation, Heat, Weather and BioDiesel

While emission standards are getting greater, Diesel Engine Manufacturers are relying on more complex engines to meet regulation standards. These complex engine systems use higher pressures to maximize fuel combustion. These higher pressures are generated with tighter tolerances which require cleaner fuel to prevent deterioration and build up.

Fuel cleanliness and quality is the key and is critical to maintaining your system It begins with the storage tank!

Ignoring tank maintenance will result in deterioration of the fuel itself and costly repairs in the equipment it powers.

Flooding causes widespread water contamination for fuel tanks

Water mixed with diesel fuel or gasoline leads to:

  • Extensive and costly engine damage.
  • Growth of microbes that causes clogged filters and injectors.
  • Unreliable engine start-up and complete engine failure.

Don't let bad fuel be the reason your equipment fails when you need it!

Signs of a Fuel Problem

  • Engine Stalls
  • Starting issues
  • Water in separator
  • Low RPM at full throttle
  • Corroded injectors
  • Fuel line clogging
  • Loss in fuel economy
  • Rough idle
  • Clogged Filters
  • Dark or excessive exhaust smoke

Tank Symptoms

• Dark colored fuel • Sediment

  • Water • Clogged slimy filters

• Unusual odor
